Could Chrysler become a vehicle for a Cerberus Capital
Management LP rollup? While Cerberus and Chrysler are still in their honeymoon
phase, Autoblog suggests that the buyout firm may already be planning another
automaker acquisition: Jaguar and Land Rover, which parent Ford Motor Co.
recently put on the block. However, Cerberus would not only have to beat back
rival PE bidders Alchemy Partners LLP, Blackstone Group LP and Cinven Ltd.,
but also British labor unions and MPs, who
oppose
a sale of the U.K. automakers, and maybe even antitrust authorities
concerned by Jeep's and Land Rover's perceived positions as the leading makers
of off-road vehicles. —Matthew Wurtzel
