For basketball phenomenon LeBron James, dealmaker Warren
Buffett is as much an idol as basketball legend Michael Jordan, according to a
CNNmoney.com story. James hopes he can learn a thing or two from Buffett in
hopes of parlaying his $80 million NBA salary into a billion-dollar empire,
which would make him the first billionaire athlete. The two have met, and
evidently James left a lasting impression on Buffett, who's become a big fan
of the 22-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers forward, according to the story. Of
course, James is not the only athlete shooting for the title. Last week,
former NBA star David Robinson announced the formation of a new private equity
firm. In addition, Lakers legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson has also built upon
his wealth through dealmaking. —Matthew
