The AOL waiting game

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story
All those on the edge of their seats about the fate of AOL LLC will have to squirm a bit longer. Speaking in London Thursday, Time Warner Inc. CEO Dick Parsons said the fate of the unit will be decided by year's end, according to a Reuters report. The media group for years drew fire from activist investor Carl Icahn for a botched strategy in integrating the once-mighty Internet portal, which is itself the subject of a major turnaround. A sale, spinoff or merger with another company might just be added ammo for AOL in competition with the likes of Web brethren Google Inc. and Yahoo! Inc. Further, Reuters said, Time Warner could choose to separate Time Warner Cable in five years, but a decision has yet to be made. —Carolyn Murphy
