The IMF Economist today launched its first external blog and what it deems the first-ever of its kind covering public financial management. They claim their goals are to increase understanding of public financial management, the impact of reform, and to shed light on its work in the area — touting its publications, programs and experiences as a reference for anyone interested in PFM.
In its three-week archive, the blog has tackled topics including Sweden’s newly established fiscal council to examine and check its fiscal policy, the importance of sound project management in public investment, the G-8’s work for financial governance in Africa and how low-income countries need to improve fiscal management to benefit from “scaled-up aid.”
While comments are spare thus far, one reader charged the blog to truly focus on substance over symbolism. — Carolyn Murphy
