Snyder's of Hanover may be hungry for Jays

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

Jays potato chipsCould Jay's Acquisition Inc., the stalking-horse bidder for bankrupt Jays Foods Inc., really be Snyder's of Hanover Inc.? The Chicago Tribune seems to think so. According to a recent Tribune article, Snyder's and Jay's Acquisition are both based in Hanover, Pa., share the same post office box number and the same chief financial officer, Charles E. Good. Whether the Tribune's investigation is true or not is still unknown. Debtor counsel for Jays Foods, Winston & Strawn LLP, refused to comment, and the unsecured creditors committee Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP said it was unaware of who owned Jay's Acquisition. Calls to Snyder's and its PR firm, Northstar Marketing Inc., were not returned, and calls to Jay's Acquisition's counsel Greenberg Traurig LLP were also not returned. For now, the mystery continues. — Jamie Mason
