Among the middle-market acquisitions, the tech sector led the way with two deals:

For analytical software supplier Omniture, the deal adds a company that would strengthen its online advertising capability, giving it the ability to allow its customers to customize ad campaigns. Earlier this month, Omniture opened its wallet for Offermatica Corp. for $65 million in a bid to expand its marketing capabilities.

Meanwhile, with its buy of Navini, Cisco jumped on the bandwagon of WiMax, a wireless broadband technology that can travel over greater distances than the more common Wi-Fi wireless standard. Cisco said it plans to integrate Navini into its wireless networking business unit.

Overall tech M&A deals have been on the upswing. In September, the total number of tech deals was 124, compared to 103 in August and 96 in July, according to Electronic Design Strategy News. — Gerald Magpily
