Citi's chair Robert Rubin allegedly contacted Goodwin after Chuck Prince quit two weeks ago. However, the Telegraph reported Goodwin is unlikely to accept a Citi offer, but it noted that he could receive considerably higher compensation than his current £4 million ($8.2 million) package based on John Thain's $50 million compensation package at Merrill Lynch & Co.

RBS just completed the £50 billion purchase of Dutch bank ABN Amro Bank NV. Additionally, the Telegraph story noted that RBS may announce the disposal of certain units including its stake in the Bank of China.
