Retired professional baseball player turned financial writer Lenny Dykstra made headlines last week as one of 90 retired and active players named in the Mitchell Report linked to steroid use. Maybe Dykstra can use some of his former muscle to steer that media attention to his new endeavor, a financial magazine called the The Player's Club.

The magazine, targeted to professional athletes and how to manage their fortunes, is slated to publish in April. Dykstra has invested $3 million in the venture and teamed up with Doubledown Media, publisher of Trader and Dealmaker magazines, according to The New York Times. The magazine's editorial advisers are a who's who of former professional athletes that include: former Mets pitcher Ron Darling, hockey great Wayne Gretzky and Tim Brown, a Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame who later played for the Oakland Raiders. — Gerald Magpily
