John Thain has wasted no time at his new job with Merrill Lynch & Co. On his first day, he's brought on board with him NYSE Euronext CFO Nelson Chai as the bank's new chief financial officer, replacing Jeffrey Edwards.
Edwards will be given a new operating role at Merrill, and an announcement about the new position will be made later, Merrill said. Chai's move from NYSE follows Thain, the former chief executive of the stock exchange operator who was named CEO of Merrill last month after the firm ousted Stanley Oneal. Rumors surfaced late last week that Merrill was in talks with Chai. — Matthew Wurtzel See story about Chai from Reuters CategoriesComments![]() Deal Video
