With the stock market in full retreat and an economic slowdown looming, 2008 may shape up to be a banner year for distressed investing as valuations precipitously fall and private equity funds sit on record levels of capital. With the myriad of new opportunities opening up, The Deal and the Turnaround Management Association will host some of the top distressed dealmakers at the 2008 Distressed Investing Conference in Las Vegas starting Thursday.
The conference will start with a keynote speech by turnaround specialist Jerome B. York of Harwinton Capital LLC, as well as panels focusing on leveraged capital markets, CLOs and restructuring, and distressed debt trading. On Friday, The Deal's senior writer Matt Miller will moderate a keynote panel of leaders in the distressed investing arena, followed by a panel exploring distressed investing in China. Starting Thursday, Dealscape will cover all of the news at the conference. - George White See Distressed Investing conference agenda See Tony Baldo video speak on restructuring and leveraged finance
