Price has deep ties to the wine business. He has long owned Durrell Vineyard through his Sand Hill LLC entity. Additionally, TPG joined with Silverado Partners to purchase Nestle USA Inc.'s Wine World Estates, including the Beringer Vineyards label, in 1995. After taking Beringer public, the firms sold the company to Foster's Brewing Group Ltd. for $1.2 billion in 2000.

Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler will continue to run Kistler Vineyards, which buys grapes from Durrell.
