Would DealBook really know if the Times were selling About.com?

The New York Times' DealBook flatly denied a rumor floating on blog Silicon Alley Insider that the New York Times Co. has retained an investment bank to sell About.com. Sure, Silicon Alley Insider offers no real sources, so it's worth questioning the validity of the rumor. However, DealBook goes so far as to say: "However, people close to the company -- and we're well placed -- flatly denied the report." Really?
