AOL's CEO hopes Microhoo, Google beat each others brains out

According to Silicon Alley Insider, AOL LLC chief executive officer Randy Falco spoke about the potential Microsoft Corp.-Yahoo! Inc. acquisition at the Interactive Advertising Bureau's annual conference. Falco is all for Microhoo in the ring with Google Inc.

"I hope they beat each other's brains out over search and leave the display market to us," Falco said. "I think it's a mistake. But I think Napoleon said never interrupt your enemy when they're in the middle of making a mistake."

Unfortunately, Falco is not Czar Alexander I, and AOL is not 19th century Russia -- meaning ceding search to its rivals much like the Russians retreated from Moscow when Napoleon attacked will not lead to victory for AOL. - Maria Woehr
