Meanwhile, French business information software developer Groupe Open agrees to sell server and systems unit Logix to Melville, N.Y.-based Arrow Electronics for $178 million.

Spain's ACS buys another 5% of German builder Hochtief, giving it 30%, and sending the German group's stock higher.

Graphite Capital Management Ltd.-Kurt Geiger
Graphite Capital backs a $186 million buyout of Kurt Geiger, a luxury shoe chain, from owner Barclays Private Equity.

Gaz de France SA, Suez SA-Goldman, Sachs & Co., Cargill Inc.
Gdf and Suez agree to buy a Teeside, northeast England, power plant owned by Goldman Sachs and Cargill, and before that by Enron.

HDFC Bank Ltd.-Centurion Bank of Punjab
HDFC, India's third-biggest bank by market value, bids $2.4 billion for smaller rival Centurion Bank of Punjab.

Zinifex Ltd.-Allegiance Mining NL
Australian nickel miner Zinifex agrees to pay $787 million for Australia's Allegiance Mining after lifting its offer by 10%.
