At The Deal/TMA's Distressed Investing Conference 2008, Frank R. Mack, CTP of Conway MacKenzie & Dunleavy, discussed the cultural challenges that foreigners face when doing deals and financings in China.

"There's a very big emphasis on cultural issues [in China], as opposed to the U.S., where we have a focus on framework, law and practice. In China, you have 5,000 years of history, which is not easy to break," Mack said.
