Mitt Romney drops bid, no dealmaker in White House

Mitt RomneyDealmaker-turned-politician Mitt Romney ended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination Thursday afternoon following a weak showing in the Super Tuesday primaries. With his departure, the possibility of a dealmaker in the White House ends -- for another four years at least.

Romney dropped out after only winning the three states he's called home: Massachusetts, where he served as governor, Michigan and Utah. Last year, as candidates ramped up fundraising, Dealscape asked whether PE would vote for their fellow dealmaker. While the folks at Bain Capital may have given him resounding support up in Boston, Tuesday's primary results from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and California -- states where the vast majority of dealmakers call home -- all went to Sen.
