Washington to weigh in on Microsoft-Yahoo!

Microsoft Corp.'s $44 billion effort to merge with Yahoo! Inc. is going to cause a lot of wrestling in Washington. The FTC and DOJ are certain to fight each other for authority to review the deal, and that battle is likely to take a month.

Once the antitrust review gets underway, there is a lot of grist for antitrust regulators -- far more competition issues than the recent Google Inc.-DoubleClick Inc. deal.
