The way to a dealmaker's wallet is, evidently, through the food sector. Transactions in the food sector topped the domestic deals of the week charts for the week ended March 9, while The Deal's Auction Block also reported March 7 that within the food sector, dealmaking in the ethnic food industry has also risen.

Take, for example, that Taneko Japanese Tavern restaurant was sold to Food, Friends & Co, while Mandarin Holdings LP acquired Chinese restaurant chain Leann Chin Inc. And it's not just Asian foods that are hot. There's also a growing appetite for Hispanic foods and restuarants. Overall, it's no surprise that ethnic food restuarants, and food suppliers, are in demand as the tastes of Americans have broadened.
