The pair led two of the most prestigious American financial services companies (Bear Stearns Cos. and American International Group Inc., respectively) but some might say -- as lawsuits contend -- that they didn't act in the best interest of shareholders.

AIG is suing former CEO Greenberg along with five other executives for supposedly breaching their fiduciary duty, according to Reuters. Greenberg resigned from AIG in 2005 while Eliot Spitzer (another great) was leading investigations into a reinsurance transaction scandal. The lawsuit claims that misappropriations were $20 billion
