Miller argues that these sites are increasingly replacing the struggling major labels and commercial radio, particularly among the younger folks. The problem: It's still a little hard to see what the profit-generating business model will be. Also in this issue, Jamie Mason takes a close look at Wilbur Ross' most recent distressed rollup in mortgage servicers. Ross, who bought the servicing unit of the former American Home Mortgage Investment Corp. out of bankruptcy, had to overcome a variety of complex obstacles. The story is a little primer in how this master of distress works.

This issue also features a Special Report on Energy. Claire Poole reports on a huge number of deals that General Electric Co.'s energy unit has made and on some folks investing in high-tech oil and gas exploration. Donna Block wraps up the section with a story that focuses on how lenders are anticipating government carbon limitations by offering up their own guidelines.

In our Due Diligence section, we offer stories on the XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.-Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. deal, on the plight of Tribune Co.'s Sam Zell and on the European leveraged loan market. Media Maneuvers opines on the sudden willingness of pundits to decide that buyout shops can bail out the banks, and Follow the Money sorts out the relationship between covenant-lite deals and defaults. - Robet Teitelman
