Fiona Schaeffer, a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, spoke at The Deal's Healthcare Dealmaking Conference on increasing difficulties surrounding regulatory approvals for healthcare M&A. "I think these cases raise a perfect storm of regulatory intervention that not everyone who is following this industry is always aware of. The perfected storm consists of not only the Department of Justice in Washington, but also by the State Attorney General and insurance commissioners in the relevant states where the companies are doing business. So, in any one transaction, you can see yourself needing not only approval from the Feds, but also some from any state AG." - George White
