Will Bank of America be the next to seek capital infusion?

moneybags2006.jpgCitigroup Inc., Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch & Co. already blazed the trail taking in billions from sovereign wealth funds. Additionally, National City Corp. and Washington Mutual Inc. have tapped private equity firms for capital. Now boutique investment bank Keefe Bruyette & Woods predicts 23 more banks including Bank of America Corp. will follow their leads. Aside from Bank of America, other large banks on the KBW list of 24 include Fifth Third Bancorp, Sovereign Bancorp and National City, which just announced a $6.7 billion capital infusion -- hence the 23 mentioned in the lead.
