Baring Private Equity Asia said Tuesday it had raised $1.52 billion for its fourth fund. The buyout firm said the fund exceeds its target of $1 billion and creates the largest growth equity fund ever raised for Asia.
Baring Asia Private Equity Fund IV LP will focus on growing businesses in Asia with enterprise values of between $100 million and $500 million in the alternative energy, media, financial services, consumer and industrial sectors with operations in China, India, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan or South East Asia. Buyout shops have been on a fundraising tear for Asia-focused limited partnerships this year with over $8 billion put under management, including a $4.1 billion Asia-Pacific region-focused fund for CVC Capital Partners and a $1.45 billion fund for Blue Ridge China.
