Roll Call: Yahoo!-Microsoft rumors

For all of you who have gotten sucked into the ongoing saga/rumor frenzy that has persisted since Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo! Inc. parted ways here are the latest rumors circulating in the blogosphere.

  • Shortly after Microsoft chairman Bill Gates told reporters in Tokyo that the software giant was done pursuing Yahoo! or any other Internet media company, a new report has surfaced that it is putting out feelers to Facebook Inc. Read more at Tech Confidential.

  • Google Inc. is apparently having second thoughts on partnering with Yahoo!  in a search-advertising deal. See  Silicon Alley Insider for more.
  • The Yahoo! board of directors authorized chairman Roy Bostock, not CEO Jerry Yang, to call Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer about restarting negotiations. For more see TechCrunch.
  • Microsoft freed the elected rival slate from their commitment to run in Yahoo!'s board in the event of a proxy fight. For more see Reuters.
