Evercore hires Bear restructuring head

Evercore Partners Inc. said Thursday that it has hired Daniel Celentano, the former head of Bear Stearns Co's restructuring practice, to join the boutique investment bank's restructuring team.

Celentano, formerly a senior managing director at Bear Stearns, will hold that position at Evercore. He will join the team's current leaders, William Repko and David Ying, in a business that is expected to flourish as more companies struggle through the credit crunch.

New York-based Evercore noted in its announcement that Celentano has a wealth of experience advising a number of high-profile clients on corporate restructuring including, General Motors Corp. in the Delphi Corp. Chapter 11 case, among many others. Celentano will be bringing GM to Evercore as a restructuring client. - Donna Block
