Anheuser-Busch, which owns 50.2% of Modelo, is currently considering a $46.3 billion unsolicited takeover offer from InBev SA and its board may meet Friday to discuss the offer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. There were rumors that Anheuser-Busch may be in talks with Modelo to combine the companies as a means to fend off InBev's offer.

However, Fernandez's uncle and family patriarch, Antonino Fernandez, controls Modelo's family voting trust, and is expected to keep the company privately owned, blocking any full sale of the company to Anheuser-Busch, according to Reuters. - Maria Woehr
