Obama endorses Anheuser-Busch's independence

obama.gifJoining the chorus of other politicians chiming in on the possible sale of Anheuser-Busch Cos. to InBev SA, presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D.-Ill., offered up his thoughts while on the campaign trail in St. Louis.

Obama said it would be a shame if Anheuser-Busch was foreign-owned while speaking at a conference in St. Louis, according to a Reuters report

"I think we should be able to find an American company that is interested in purchasing Anheuser-Busch if in fact Anheuser-Busch feels that it's necessary to sell," Obama reportedly said.

Missouri's two U.S. senators, Republican Kit Bond and Democrat Claire McCaskill, have also come forward against a potential deal with InBev and pledged to do what they can to stop the deal. - Maria Woehr
