Basingstoke, England-based Shire said it would pay €6.25 cash per share, an impressive 71% premium on Jerini's Wednesday close, and already has commitments representing 53% of Jerini's share capital.
Shire wants to use its expertise in gaining regulatory approval for new treatments to bring Jerini's Firazyr drug to the market in both the U.S. and Europe.
