Nicole Arnaboldi, Credit Suisse's vice chairman of alternative investments, is the new head of the unit, according to Bloomberg. She also will serve as chairman of DLJ Merchant Banking's investment committee and remain co-head of Credit Suisse's illiquid-alternatives business.

Rattner -- not to be confused with Quadrangle Group LLC's Steven Rattner -- became head of the group in March 2005 when its former head, Thompson Dean, left to go it alone and start his own leveraged buyout firm, Avista Captial Partners. Rattner headed European fixed income for DLJ before CSFB acquired the firm for $13 billion in 2001.
