Vodacom acquires Gateway

Vodacom, which is jointly owned by South Africa's Telkom SA and the U.K.'s Vodafone Group plc, already has 58% of South Africa's mobile-phone services market, Africa's largest and most profitable. However, it is looking to broaden its services amid an increasingly crowded mobile market.

As part of the company's strategy to expand, Vodacom bought 51% of Storage Technologies Services, a provider of storage and security services, for an undisclosed amount earlier this week. For the full story, check out TheDeal.com. - Renee Cordes
