Bank Watch: Getting over the hump

Despite announcements that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was investigating Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and American International Group Inc., Wall Street firms were up in afternoon trading Wednesday with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. leading the way. Goldman received a vote of confidence and a $5 billion capital infusion from Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley was one of the few to see a drop, which likely is due to reports that Wachovia Corp. ended talks. - Maria Woehr
