Dealmakers know strategic alliances can deliver substantial returns, but a recent study in the Harvard Business Review suggests alliances fail 60% to 70% of the time. Alliances are hard to negotiate and manage -- often because of competing interests -- and present a host of risks to both partners. In this edition of Inside The Deal, Scott Wilson a senior manager of Deloitte Research speaks with The Deal's Suzanne Stevens about constructing alliances with staying power.
