Bank Watch: Money in the bank

Stocks ended down even after the government released its plans to inject more capital into the system through its voluntary Capital Purchase Program. The Dow ended down 76.62, coming in at 9,310.99; the Nasdaq slid down 65.24 to 1,779.01; and the S&P 500 slid 5.34 to 998.01.

Citigroup Inc. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and many other participants of the government's program ended on the upside. - Maria Woehr
