Barclays weaves Lehman bankers into its senior ranks

barclays.gif Barclays Capital announced -- internally on Wednesday -- its new corporate finance leadership team. Not surprisingly, most of them were top bankers at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.

The new division heads are:
  • Nisha McGreevy, consumer;
  • Jack Callaway, communications;
  • John Miller, financial sponsors;
  • Patrick McMullan, healthcare;
  • Bob Bertagna and Mathew Pendo, co-heads of industrial;
  • Bill Cohen, media;
  • Carlos Fierro, natural resource;
  • John Lange, power; Steve Hash, real estate;
  • Andy Taussig, retail; and
  • Laurence Goldberg, technology.
All report to Joe Gatto and Ros Stephenson, co-heads of corporate finance. After Lehman's bankruptcy, Barclays plc acquired the firm's North American investment banking business and the New York headquarters for $1.75 billion, saving 10,000 jobs.

Lehman's U.S. i-banking platform was much larger than BarCap's, but a spokesperson points out that a mix of execs from both firms are taking leadership posts across the combined firm. Here's a sampling of the senior bankers:
