Goldman Sachs elects 94 partner managing directors

It is one of the most coveted titles on Wall Street, and Goldman, Sachs & Co. has given out 94 of them this year.

This round of "partner managing directors" (listed after the jump) is the smallest class since Goldman's IPO in 1999, reflecting sour markets. But it's sweet for the 94 chosen, who will now get major pay raises, among other perks.

James Quinn, a Wall Street correspondent for The Telegraph, wrote that the 94 men and women were informed of their elevation by personal telephone calls from chairman and chief executive Lloyd Blankfein Wednesday morning -- it is understood that geographically, 15% come from Asia, 25% from Europe and the rest from the U.S. Managing directors are expected to be named Thursday. - Baz Hiralal
