'Gossip Girl' name drops Warren Buffett

Warren_Buffett_smiling.jpg It would be no surprise to hear the mention of Warren Buffett's name on CNBC, Fox Business News or CNN. Even the likes of Comedy Central with its "Daily Show" and "Colbert Report" satirizing the recent financial chaos seems like a reasonable enough place to hear Buffett's name. But a Buffett reference on teen- and twenty-something-oriented, fifth-place broadcast network the CW seems a little out of place.

The 77-year-old billionaire was mentioned on Monday's episode of CW's "Gossip Girl," an evening soap opera about the lives of excessively wealthy teenagers in New York City. Here's a snippet of the script with the mention of the Oracle of Omaha:

Dan: Hey, how's AP economics treating you?

Serena: Well, today there was a rousing debate about inflation versus liquidity, which Isabel settled by calling Warren Buffett. Apparently, he's her godfather.

The Business Sheet blog thinks the Buffett mention on "Gossip Girl" may foreshadow an appearance in the near future. And it really wouldn't be a stretch either, since Buffett already has made several appearances on ABC's daytime soap opera "All My Children." - Gerald Magpily
