International Bank Watch: Global markets up, but HSBC and Barclays take hits

Global markets were wide awake and hopping on Monday. Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 5% at 9081.43 as China's nearly $586 billion economic plan boosted investor confidence. In Europe the FTSE 100 index was slightly up by 38.96 points at 4403.92. Even though stocks were up, financial companies across the globe were mostly down.
