The rumors about President-elect Barack Obama's administration continue
to percolate in both Washington and the greater media as most pundits
expect quick movement. Already there are reports that Obama may have a
chief of staff, and has narrowed his treasury secretary list down to
three candidates.
According to The Washington Post, Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D.-Ill., a former banker at Wasserstein Perella & Co.,
where he worked for The Deal LLC's chairman Bruce Wasserstein, is
deciding whether he wants to be Obama's chief of staff. Meanwhile, NBC
News' Andrea Mitchell has reported
that Emanuel has taken the job, but there is no confirmation from other
media outlets. Emanuel may choose to stay on in Congress where he could
one day replace House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, or even replace Obama as
Illinois' junior senator.
However, once Obama's chief of staff is chosen, expect his White House staff and Cabinet officials to coalesce quickly in the next couple of weeks. Key Cabinet official appointments should be made before Thanksgiving. The choice of treasury secretary, arguable the most important Cabinet level job given the current economic crisis, should go to either New York Federal Reserve Bank President Timothy Geithner or New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, at least according to Stan Collender, managing director at Qorvis Communications in Washington. Larry Summers, a former treasury secretary during the Clinton administration, is also in the running. - Ron Orol See story from The Washington Post See story from MSNBC See Emanuel profile from The New York Times Ron Orol is a Washington-based reporter for The Deal and author of Extreme Value Hedging: How Activist Hedge Fund Managers Are Taking on the World. The truth in reality is not always good news, to read about the greediness of Palin in her spending spree is a real indication that America as seen by the eyes of Non Americans is a greedy giant.
The world needs a gentle giant who will be caring, attentive, responsive and sympathetic to the inhabitants of all countries.
Palin is not really old news for she in her mind has set her target as POTUS and four years of trying to stall progress by smiling at powerful men will irritate many but we must remember there will be die hards who will not budge and be ready to join her fold.
America can be a nation that fulfills a real dream not to be successful by kicking others out ot the way, needlessly stepping on people's toes or be demonstratively aggressive but joining hands and building a nation not of money grabbers but of hardworking conscientious workers.
Palin could never be that and for her to have the position of VP is truly scandalous to the extreme
