International Bank Watch: HSBC shares slip on rumors the bank needs capital

International stocks were mixed Tuesday as poor quarterly reports were expected from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and the Federal Reserve is expected to announce a rate cut. The Nikkei 225 Average fell 96.64 points to 8568.02, and the FTSEurofirst 300 index increased 29.26 points to 4306.82. HSBC Holdings plc was the hardest hit.

Deutsche Bank AG was up even though the bank was fined by Hong Kong for $769,230 on actions at its facilitation trading desk.  Meanwhile, more victims of  Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme are coming forward.
