Stocks were down Thursday morning. The Dow slipped 72.72 points to 8,696.98, the
S&P 500 fell 4.37 points to 902.28, and the
Nasdaq was down .13 points to 1,598.93. Even though stocks were down, financial stocks were in the green overall.

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. was down as the firm cut its 2009
economic growth forecast for Brazil to 1.5% from 2%, according to
Bloomberg. Bank of America Corp.'s stock was up. BofA CEO Ken Lewis apparently sent out
pink slips Wednesday as part of the institution's merger with Merrill Lynch & Co. Meanwhile Singapore's Temasek Holdings Pty. Ltd. converted its
13.7 % stake in Merrill Lynch into Bank of America stock, reducing the overall value of its investment in Merrill by more than $2 billion.
America International Group Inc.'s stock was down. Seven senior executives at AIG won't be getting that $3 million in
deferred compensation that they were expecting to be paid by April, according to a
new SEC filing.
