
"I think '09 is going to be a real breakout year for professional video content," says David Mason, CEO of
StudioNow, which provides a Web-based platform for creating videos. "You're going to find more and more people are going to be able to figure out the monetization of that content."
Mason co-founded StudioNow two years ago and has raised $4 million in venture capital funding from Clayton Associates and Claritas Capital. Previously, he launched an early Internet book retailer that later became Buy.com. He spotted similarities in scale, growth and opportunity between the Internet retail boom of the 1990s and today's interest in online video for entertainment, publicity and marketing communication prices.
