Former Time Warner chairman Richard Parsons (pictured above) reportedly is being tossed around as a possible appointee for commerce secretary, a position former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson withdrew his nomination from Jan. 4, citing an ongoing investigation into campaign contributors and state contracts. There's no word on whether Parsons, who is an economic adviser to Obama, is interested, but it hasn't stopped speculation. Other dealmakers reportedly on the list include J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. chief executive Jamie Dimon.

Regardless, should Obama tap Gupta and Parsons, then the president-elect certainly will have kept his promise of pushing for diversity in his administration. - Gerald Magpily
