Eidos agrees to takeover by Square Enix

Posted on February 12, 2009 4:30 PM
Hoping to add the popular "Tomb Raider" series of video games to an arsenal that includes "Final Fantasy" and "Dragon Quest," Japan's Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. on Thursday unveiled an £84.3 million ($119.9 million) offer for London's Eidos plc.

The Tokyo suitor said it would pay 32 pence per Eidos share, nearly 3 times the stock's 8.95 pence close Jan. 14, the day before the British company revealed it had received an approach.
