In search of the original deal economy

There on the cover of the March 2 BusinessWeek is a cover line that reads: "Signs of life in the deal economy." That made us sit up.

The Deal first coined the phrase the "deal economy" back in 2001, and we've used it ever since. Not that we can stop anyone else from using it, just as we can't stop anyone from following our reporting. Our own Vipal Monga with a number of other staffers wrote the cover package in the Feb. 9 issue about signs of life in the financing markets, "Critical, if improving."
