Sharpton and others were to visit the FCC on Wednesday, according to Reuters Washington Daybook. The Web site for Sharpton's National Action Network said the group planned to complain about a waiver granted to  Murdoch's News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWS) that allows the media house to own a television station and newspaper in New York City, "the same city which is clearly empowering them to do racist cartoons without fear of retribution and fear of losing advertising dollars," the site's homepage says.

Murdoch himself apologized in a written statement on the Post's site, acknowledging, "We ran a cartoon that offended many people. Murdoch added that "the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation." - Chris Nolter
