Finance Layoffs: Societe Generale, BoA and more

More bad news for bankers on Friday. The latest layoff announcements include cuts at Societe Generale SA (NYSE:SCGLY), Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:BAC) and Prudential Asset Management (NYSE:PRU) as well as other banks.

Here are the details:

  • Societe Generale has laid off about 10% of its private banking staff in Asia, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
  • Bank of America recently cut 150 employees from its Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management. The cuts affected some business manager positions, according to CNN.
  • Prudential Asset Management is cutting nine out of 38 staff in Hong Kong, and 20 out of 259 staff in Singapore were fired on March 20, according to The Asian Investor.
  • Old Second National Bank laid off 62 employees this week.

It's rough out there, but there are jobs. Boutique firms are hiring as well as large banks such as Standard Chartered plc. For the latest job postings, check out TheDeal.com's Career Center.
