IBM-Sun deal may help KKR

If a brewing takeover of Sun Microsystems Inc. by IBM Corp. was to actually occur, it would bail out a top private equity firm of a seemingly soured $700 million investment in Sun.

On Wednesday The Wall Street Journal reported that IBM was in talks to buy Sun, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based computer server and software maker, for $6.5 billion in cash. The story cited unnamed sources.
