OMGPOP has raised a total of $6.5 million. In 2006, Y Combinator provided seed funding for the company, which was
originally a flirting and dating site. In 2007, irreverent founder Charles Forman raised
an angel round of "a couple hundred thousand dollars"
from Betaworks, Conway, Kevin Rose (founder of Digg Inc., Revision3 and the recently deadpooled Pownce) and Paul Buchheit (creator
of Google Inc.'s [NASDAQ:GOOG] Gmail and co-founder of FriendFeed Inc.).
Last year, the company raised a $1.5 million Series A
led by Spark Capital and also included Marc Andreessen (founder of Netscape and Ning), Baseline, Betaworks and Conway.
