FareChase, a travel comparison service acquired by Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) for undisclosed terms in 2004, has been grounded.

A note on Yahoo!'s travel site says FareChase will no longer be available after Wednesday. The service claimed to provide the best prices on hotels, rental cars and airfare along with relevant tips and travel experiences from other users.

FareChase users will be redirected to Yahoo!'s main travel site starting Thursday, according to a Bloomberg report. The move is likely a part of new Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz's effort to streamline the company and shed underperforming assets.
