Ellington Financial LLC said Tuesday it intends to offer its common stock in an initial public offering. The company expects to file a registration statement for the stock offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission before the end of the third quarter of 2009, it said in a statement.

Ellington Financial works in various fixed-income investment strategies, with an emphasis on subprime residential whole mortgage loans, residual interests, residential mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities and collateralized debt obligations.
